Why the tagelharpa?

So for anyone who do not know who I am. My name is Daniel Høstan and I am the frontman of Aftenstorm.

I started playing the tagelharpa in May 2021, due to its pure earthy sound. Funnily enough it wasn’t bands like wardruna or Heilung that triggered me to buy one. It was MYRKUR’s album folkesange that really blew my mind. And even though that album doesnt have a tagelharpa in it (I think) it really pushed me into the direction of leaving my electric guitar on the shelf and start exploring. New world within Scandinavian folk music and dark folk (Or viking music as many people call it)

Once I received my first instrument, I put on the strings, added rosin to the bow, tuned it to D4A3D3 and started bowing. I sounded SO TERRIBLE!

I got several neighbour complaints and I even got the police on my door once hahha!

But after about 3 months I got a «Aha!» Moment and from there I could actually start playing pretty decently. Thats actually one of the main reason that I also made my course, but that story is for another post.
